LOOKS UGLY IN FIREFOX. TRY IE.
THINGS I "LIKE" ABOUT MY SUMMER JOB
10. The elevator door closing before anyone can get on/off.
9. (8) One of these things is not like the others...(8) Being the only female in my department...
8. ...the only unmarried one...
7. ...the only non-parent...
6. ...and the only non-homeowner...
5. ...talk about awkward lunchtime conversation!
4. The lady that never returns a smile when I say hi.
3. The org believes in employment equity: all 3 summer students are Chinese.
2. Never failing to spill a little coffee every morning.
1. Not knowing what I'm doing.
THINGS I LIKE ABOUT MY SUMMER JOB (F'real, this time...I think)
10. Alternating between Google and naps all day.
9. The complete weirdos, or "free spirits" I believe they're called, of young people that work there.
8. Free to format my project in MS Word to my heart's content.
7. The bilingualism. It helps my French. It has improved infinitesimally.
6. Lots of free food. Lots of eating.
5. My totally un-PC, unorthodox boss.
4. No, really, the org believes in employment equity: different backgrounds, different physical abilities, etc. Thumbs up for diversity.
3. Getting a day off on my fifth day of work for a "staff meeting" at the island. It was edumacational. Really. (And tasty, too.)
2. The pretty dishwasher in the kitchen.
1. The job title is pretty cool I guess.
ADVICE FROM TWO CUBICLES OVER
The lady two cubicles over is quite the chatterbox.
Since everybody in our office area was gone yesterday, she chatted with me.
Late in the afternoon, she had to go through and sign a number of documents.
I was happily minding my own business when she looked up at me and sighed...
LADY: Are you married?
ME: *tries not to choke* ...no.
LADY: Marry a man with a short last name.
ME: I see. That's the key?
LADY: That's the key.
Truer words were never spoken...errrr.

TODAY
Visited the investment advisor. Reaffirmed that I learned squat in Finance. Went to Hot House afterwards. It was pretty good. Forgot the camera though. Browsed St. Lawrence. Don't bother with the kebabs from Upper Cut Meats. They suck.
THANKS, DAD
My dad, my cheerleader. I know I can always count on him for all the support and encouragement that is typical of great fathers...

I guess I can be grateful that he's got an excellent sense of humour.
I'd like to think he gets it from me.
(Still not studying very hard.)
HAHAHA

CAPTION: Turtles are fun.
(Not studying very hard, of course.)
BUTTON-HUNTING
I'm so, so thankful to have a breather before final exams this year. It's nice to come home, spend time with the parents, and pretend like it's summer already.
One of the things my mom has been itching to do this week is find new buttons for a winter jacket she bought recently. After browsing some of the uptown stores, leaving dissatisfied, she called up a friend and was told that Queen/Spadina is the place to go for buttons. I wasn't thrilled at the initial thought of spending a day in Chinatown, but hearing the excitement in her voice, I found it difficult to resist, especially after she proposed eating somewhere yummy! (I do love eating.) So, off we went yesterday afternoon...
Here's the route we took.

A. Left Queen Station. Took streetcar to Spadina. Walked down Queen, taking inventory of the super weird shops (and people).
B. Accident (pedestrian hit by a car) at Bathurst stops us. We turn around. Walked past some more weird...things.
C. Browsed some fabric stores. Bought some buttons. Success! Watched chubby 2 y/o Korean girl play with a dog named "Maggiecomehere! SitMaggiesit!".
D. Walked to Baldwin. Had a nice lunch.
E. Went prowling for Chinese food/snacks. Bought lots!
F. Streetcar'd it to St. Patrick. Headed home.
It was nice to take in Chinatown with my mom after so many years. (It amazes me that my mom's mental map of downtown Toronto is so detailed. Then again, all of my family's is...except mine.) I think the last time I went was when I was 8, my grandma had a number of errands to run and we brought my little cousin along. And as much as I adored my grandma, I'm pretty sure I hated it...something about nosebleeds and walking. Haha. Anyway, this visit was long overdue! It really made me realize how much I miss my mom. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
HOW COULD I NOT LOVE?
Disclaimer: I'm nothing but a foodie poser! =)
*drool*
Fasting sugar has been hard.
Fasting sugar has been especially hard because there are excellent food, specifically pastry, blogs like this:
MY NEW HERO(INE).
(Don't worry, I still love you, D. Lebovitz!)
Everything looks so good and tasty!!
Donuts, too! Yum.
If only her typing/spelling was better.
*sigh*
Haha.
To mark this noteworthy discovery, there will now be links to food blogs!
(Yes, you can feel extra special, Sarah! =D)
SIDE NOTE
If there was no other reason to visit Schenectady (and most people would agree there are none at all), but for this bakery, I would go.
*drool*
Clearly, I procrastinate.
UPDATE
Hours of procrastination later, I discovered...
MY NEW BEST FRIEND...sort of.
From which I learned that this is what Americans think Smarties are.
